Stop farting about

In a recent meeting with an ex-Health Minister from Botswana, she asked “Why is change always done slowly?”

In a few cases, there may be good reasons, but let’s get real.  We tend to plan change to minimise people’s discomfort.  Thereby lengthening it.

And, as James Odling-Smee (Narrate associate, sitting opposite me in the departure lounge) has just commented: “If we do it slowly, it becomes ‘just catching up'”

We’re too timid about change.  We think people are more fragile than they are.  Time to get on with it.
